‘The Velvet Abstract’ – A Short Film

Using a plethora of CG, Animations, and a Narrated poem across twenty-six sequences, The Velvet Abstract highlight’s the detrimental damage we are doing to the environment, in a bid to raise awareness about our plight so that even more people can join the campaign to help save our planet.
The poem itself was written by the Writer / Executive Producer / Director, James Hughes, and is the centre piece of the visual effects screenplay. Combined with this, the sequences are an array of techniques and styles, but each one is coloured with the same cinematographic style of dark purple throughout the film.
Armed with just a one page poem and a ten page screenplay, James, has managed to bring the production to over thirty-five countries across six continents, transforming it into the global production he always envisaged, incorporating talent from The Hunger Games, Avatar, Star Wars, The Martian, Game of Thrones, and many more.
And the Producer, Emily Haigh, has secured the film’s Narrator, Tobias Menzies, to the production.
Tobias delivered a powerful narration at the recording in Soho, London, and the team cannot wait for audiences to hear it during The Velvet Abstract’s film festival campaign.
