2017 9Ladies Film Festival

Nine Ladies Film is a small independent film company, which consists of a small core of creatives. The company was created in 2015 and established the creation of a new style of psychological horror film. In July 2015 “In Limbo” – the first of a trilogy of short films – was made. In Limbo went onto be shown at a number of film festivals around the world and during this time won Best Film, Audience Award and Best Actor accolades.

Nine Ladies Film this week launched its distinguished annual film festival. 9LadiesFilmFestival is now considering submissions of independent short films from both emerging and established movie-makers. The festival window will be open until 19th January 2018. Finalists will enjoy a unique location for their live screening from historical houses to modern cinemas.

The festival is accepting short films produced in any genre either nine minutes or under or between 10 and 29 minutes long. Applicants can submit completed works of horror, drama, comedy or thriller to be judged by industry professionals known for their own skills and outstanding contributions to the art. Winners will be notified on 2nd February 2018.

The festival’s singular twist focusses on its choice of venues for live screenings; these will be chosen from locations around the British Isles which hold particular public interest historically or culturally. “To immerse the newest visual art within a unique formative setting somehow makes for a far more profound experience,” said festival organiser Stuart Connock Wheeldon.

The aim of 9LadiesFilmFestival is to give original, free-thinking and independent filmmakers a shot at realising their ambition. The competition is open to international directors and producers of any age. “9LadiesFilmFestival is keen to consider uber-unique and compelling short cinematic works from all walks of life and all around the world,” said festival co-director, Nick John Whittle.

Both categories carry a cash prize fund with amounts to be disclosed. The organisers also intend to tap into the extensive Nine Ladies Film network of industry influencers and producers to promote the winner of both categories within the world of film.
