Foxcatcher – Quick Review

Think a human Mr. Burns (Simpsons) with extreme mummy issues and you’ve got some measure of Steve Carell’s egocentric John du Pont. The self-proclaimed “Golden Eagle of America”, who sports an impressive beak to match, is at the centre of this biographical drama, but largely because he put himself there. The disgustingly rich public figure sponsors Olympic gold medalist Mark Schultz (a gorilla-esque Channing Tatum) to become the greatest wrestler of all time. The result could easily have been a disappointment if not for its shocking turn of events and Mark Ruffalo’s brilliance as Brother Dave Schultz.
