Virtual Reality animation Overlooked will be presented in Cannes on Animation Day, May 19th

VR Overlooked Presented At Animation Day

Overlooked takes you through five vignettes where death and horror lurk around every bend. Each a tale of tragedy in downtown Vancouver, recounted by a narrator that believes them to be connected by their dereliction.

At its core, Overlooked ask you to take a moment to stop and acknowledge just a few of the lives of more than 2000 people living without homes in Vancouver, people you may not notice in your daily commute. Will you notice when there’s a killer about?

The team behind Overlooked

Carlos Oceguera

Originally from Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico, Carlos moved to Vancouver, BC five years ago. He is a visual effects professional, and he has worked on over a dozen Hollywood feature films as an animator. Carlos and fellow filmmakers Gerry Wang and Christian Sherden Co-founded Chimera Collective Media as way to collaborate with multiple artists from different fields. The primary purpose of the collective is to bring compelling stories to life through whichever platforms serve them the best. Contact:

Christian Sherden

Christian works in the Animation and Video Game industries as a camera and staging artist, weaving the stories of major properties like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Gears of War 5, and My Little Pony: the Movie, by creating rough sequences in pre-production. Gerry Wang

An animator by trade, Gerry has worked on feature films around the world such as Godzilla, War for the Planet of the Apes, and Avengers: Infinity Wars. His goal is to utilize skills and abilities that he’s gathered from his professional experience to translate what he deeply believes in onto film, animation, and all relevant media. Curiosity, empathy, and wisdom is what he values, yearning for effective communication through art, speaking the truth out into the world, thus fostering genuine connections of humanity.

You can explore Overlooked at the Israel Pavilion – International Village Pantiero 206 – on May 19th from 2.30 pm, during Animaze panel discussions and networking event for Animation Day.
