Based on the memoir of Vera Brittain, Alicia Vikander and Kit Harrington topline this Great War love story which portraits a nation hardened but united by the travesties of combat. Documentarian James Kent’s first feature positions us in Oxford where Vera (Vikander) is at study. However, when war rips through the country and her lover Roland (Harrington) leaves for the front line, Vera opts for a life as a military nurse instead. With all the heartfelt promise of Pearl Harbor, here is a tale of courage, ambition and a loss of youth; a remembrance piece that comments on the universal human condition.
