[Cannes Film Festival 2018] – The Winners

The 71st Festival De Cannes has officially concluded in the Palmarès Ceremony at the Grand Théâtre Lumière on Saturday night. Jury members Chang Chen, Ava DuVernay, Robert Guédiguian, Khadja Nin, Léa Seydoux, Kristen Stewart, Denis Villeneuve and Andrey Zvyagnitsev with president Cate Blanchett, gave a balanced amount of awards to women and men filmmakers at the festival, with a selection that definitely included the most talked titles of the 71st competition in Cannes.

In addition to the main jury awards, at the closing ceremony, the prize for best first feature, known as Camera D’Or, was awarded to Belgian Lukas Dhont and his captivating drama Girl, that also stole the Queer Palm and the best performance in the Un Certain Regard section of the festival.

The list of the awards is as follows:

Palme D’Or: Manbiki Kazoku (Shoplifters) by Kore-eda Hirokazu

Grand Prix: Blakkklansman by Spike Lee

Jury Prize: Capernaum by Nadine Labaki

Camera D’Or: Girl by Lukas Dhont

Best Director: Pawel Pawlikowski for Zimna Wojna (Cold War)

Best Screenplay (ex-aequo): Alice Rohrwacher for Lazzaro Felice and Jafar Panahi for 3 Faces

Best Actress: Samal Yeslyamova for Ayka

Best Actor: Marcello Fonte for Dogman

Special Palm d’Or: The image book by Jean-Luc Godard
